The Defense Committee of the Israeli State Council announced today that no election speeches or meetings will be permitted among members of the Israeli armed forces. The Israeli servicemen will, however, be permitted to receive printed matter concerning the elections.
An official announcement said that an Egyptian plane spotted flying over Jewish lines in the Negev was shot down by Israeli anti-aircraft guns.
