Soviet citizens who are the parents or dependents of Israeli citizens may leave the U.S.S.R. and join their relatives in the Jewish state under the terms of an agreement just concluded between the Jewish Agency and the Soviet legation in Tel Aviv, it was learned here today.
The agreement is conditional upon the Agency’s accepting full responsibility for the immigrants from the moment they cease to be Soviet citizens. Discussions on the immigration of Jewish children from the U.S.S.R. to Israel have been held up while the Soviet representatives await instructions from their government. Meanwhile, a search is being made for Israeli citizens in the U.S.S.R. by members of the Israeli legation in Moscow.
