S.o.s. Collection of J.D.C. Shipped over 11,000,000 Pounds of Relief Supplies Abroad

More than 11,008,000 pounds of canned foods, Clothing and other relief supplies were donated to the S.O.S. Collection of the Joint Distribution Committee during 1948; it was announced today by Albert M. Kahn and Mrs. Isaac Gilman, S.O.S. national co-chairmen.

These relief-in-kind contributions, which were donated in S.O.S. campaigns in more than one thousand cities throughout the United States, constituted 15 percent of the supplies shipped to needy Jews in Europe and North Africa by the J.D.C. Gifts to S.O.S. in 1948, it was stated, exceeded 1947 contributions of 9,140,000 pounds by 20 percent and more than doubled those of 1946–5,134,000 pounds.
