New York U.j.a Raised $52,000,000 in 1948; Goldwater Reelected President for 1949

Monroe Goldwater was reelected president of the United Jewish Appeal of Greater New York, it was announced today by Jonah B. Wise, honorary chairman of the board of directors, following a meeting of the board at the Hotel Biltmore.

Dr. Wise also announced that more than $52,000,000 have been contributed to the 1948 campaign in Greater Now York and that this total represented the gifts of more than one million New Yorkers. More than 20,000 volunteer workers devoted their services to the effort, he stated. William Rosenwald presented Dr. Wise with an engrossed leather volume containing a resolution of thanks for Dr. Wise’s services to the United Jewish Appeal signed by the members of the board of directors.
