The Israeli flag was today raised over Italian territory for the first time. The banner was hoisted atop the Israeli consulate here “by a refugee girl.

A large crowd of Italian Jews, refugees and non-Jewish Italians attended the ceremony. Chief Rabbi David Prato recited the prayers and Israeli consul Arieh Oren and Dr. Rafaeli Cantoni president of the Union of Jewish Communities of Italy, spoke.
