Jewish Agency Establishes Economic Department to Stimulate U.S. Investments for Israel

The establishment in New York of an economic statement by the Jewish Agency “for the purpose of stimulating and mobilizing American investment capital for the development of Israel,” was announced at a press conference here today. The conference was addressed by Dr. Nahum Goldmann, acting chairman of the American section of the Agency’s executive, and by Robert R. Nathan, Agency’s economic adviser.

“The economic department will welcome inquiries from individuals, firms and organizations throughout America with respect to investments, tourist traffic and ###eral economic information. To the maximum extent of its ability, the department ###l serve all inquirers,” Dr. Goldmann said.

Mr. Nathan stated that the newly established department will secure detailed information from Israel with respect to opportunities for particular industries and ##nts, and will make these data readily available to American interests. He cited example by pointing out that obviously excellent opportunities offer themselves the field of hotel investments at the present time and that the economic department now preparing a comprehensive brochure dealing with all aspects of this question ###r the benefit of the American investor.

“In all its activities, the economic department is working in close cooperation with the Israeli Government and its representatives in the United States,” Nathan aid. “The department has also an office in Jerusalem with which it is in constant communication for the two-day flow of information.”
