Dr. Aaron Ohrenstein, Chief Rabbi of Bavaria, this week charged German courts with displaying “intolerance” toward Jews. Speaking at a meeting here, he pointed out that German courts acquitted former aides of Hitler but handed down a three-month sentence against a Jewish youth apprehended crossing the Austere-German frontier.

A report from Schoenebeck, in the Soviet zone, stated that the local Jewish cemetery was desecrated by anti-Semites. The Taegliche Rundachau, Soviet-licensed German newspaper in Berlin, stated that several arrests had been made by the Schoenebeck authorities. A similar incident was reported from Bentheim, in the British zone.
