Ernst Schweinberg, director of the HIAS in Belgium, died here at the age of 53. A former member of the Belgian wartime underground, he became active in location work for Jewish organizations immediately following the end of the war. In the latter part of 1945, he reestablished the HIAS offices in Brussels and Antwerp. During the following year he was responsible for the emigration from Belgium of thousands of displaced Jews.
