The Foreign Office will soon receive a delegation of representatives of leading Jewish organizations in connection with the Austrian draft treaty, as well as restitution proposals for the British zone of Germany. These latter are considered to be unsatisfactory by the Jewish groups.
It has been learned that a share of the 340,000 Jewish books put at the disposal of the Jewish Cultural Reconstruction Organization by the U.S. Military Government in Germany will be distributed to Yeshivoth in Britain and on the Continent. Most of the volumes will be transferred to the Hebrew University in Jerusalem.
The books, which originally belonged to Jewish libraries and learned institutions of Germany and other European countries, were recaptured by the Americans at Offenbach.
The Archive of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency includes articles published from 1923 to 2008. Archive stories reflect the journalistic standards and practices of the time they were published.
