Dr. Chaim Weizmann, President of Israel, today hailed the admission of Israel to the United Nations and pledged that the people of Israel justify the confidence of the nations that supported their admission.
“The vote of the United Nations General Assembly sanctions the place of the state of Israel among the nations bound by common ideals of peace and progress,” Dr. Weizmann declared here. “Those who voted in favor of admission expressed confidence in the people of Israel and their government.
“In expressing their faith in the ideas of peace, the people of the Book will be worthy of the confidence of the nations. I am proud that the great republic of France voted with those favoring the admission of our young republic. I offer my deep gratitude and that of the Government of Israel.”
