The first meeting of the International Council of Jewish Women to be held in 20 years opened here this week-end with representatives of Jewish women’s organizations in nine countries in attendance.

Mrs. Joseph M. Welt, president of the U.S. National Council of Jewish Women, who convened the parley, said the world-wide Council’s program was “non-political in nature and was designed to unite the efforts of Jewish women in all nations in behalf of the urgent needs of their own countries and world Jewry.” Delegates participating in the Conference come from the U.S., Canada, Britain, France, Italy, Greece, South Africa, Switzerland and Holland.
