A cornerstone for a Red Mogen Dovid building in Beersheba was laid today by a delegate in of the Jewish Labor Committee of New York which is now visiting Israel. The building will serve as a first aid center and clinic for the Negev. Funds for the structure were donated by the Jewish Labor Committee. Adolph Held, chairman of the J.L.C., and Jacob Pat, executive secretary, spoke at the ceremony.
A new Hadassah hospital with a capacity of 92 beds was formally opened in Jerusalem today in a building which once housed an English mission hospital. The edifice served as a military police headquarters more recently. Equipment for an enlarged X-ray department and for various laboratories which will be used in the training of medical students and interns has already been installed.
The fourth Zionist Youth and Education Center, sponsored by the World Confederation of General Zionists and Hadassah and accommodating 250 orphaned refugee children, was opened today at Tel Yitzchak, located near Nathanya. Mrs. Rose W. Halprin, Hadassah president, and Moshe Kol, Israeli chairman of the Youth Aliyah management committee, were the principal speakers at the dedication ceremonies.
