The Catholic Archbishops and Bishops of England and Wales issued a joint statement today calling for the internationalization of Jerusalem.
“The hierarchy of England and Wales desires to draw attention to the present grave and urgent situation in Palestine,” the statement said. “We consider that the internationalization of Jerusalem and its neighborhood with suitable guarantees is |the best method of securing free access to the Holy Places throughout Palestine.
“The age-long rights of the Catholic Church in the Holy Land should be protected, and there should be freedom, as in the past, to continue that educational and charitable work to which Catholics have devoted themselves for so long,” the statement concluded
