A group of former high-ranking Nazis is openly operating in Austria to rebuild a political machine, it was charged today by the World Jewish Congress in a communication to the U.S. Army’s Civil Affairs Division in Washington.

The leader of the group is Dr. WilheIm Hoetti, a former Gestapo major who was chief of the Nazi security force in Vienna, the Congress claimed. Hoetti was an aide of Ernst Kaltenbrunner who was executed as a result of the Nuremberg trials. Kaltenbrunner was Gestapo Chief Heinrich Himmler’s assistant and actually superseded Himmler toward the end of the Hitler regime.
