Jewish schools which, since 1937, have been under the supervision of a Moslem official of the Department of Public Education will hereafter not be subject to government scrutiny, it was reported here today.
According to a newly-promulgated regulation, Jewish and other minority educational institutions will now have complete autonomy of administration. The new ruling also gives the schools a free hand in the teaching of such subjects as Turkish literature, history and geography. The authority of Jewish schools in this country was hitherto considerably limited by the government superintendent, who received his salary from the schools he supervised.
