The average age of Jews living in Western Germany is between 50 and 60, the Central Committee for Liberated Jews in Germany reported today. Only 6,000 German Jews Lived in Germany in 1945, of a pre-war total of 600,000, the Committee said, adding that approximately 250,000 Jews from this country emigrated before the outbreak of war.

The condition of Jews living in the Soviet zone of Germany is “deplorable,” the Committee said. Western Germany has become an asylum for Jews expelled from Eastern Europe, the group added.
