The U.N. Security Council will meet this Thursday to discuss the report on Palestine submitted last week by Dr. Ralph J. Bunche, United Nations mediator, who considers his mission completed now that all the Arab countries have signed armistice agreements with Israel.

United Nations officials today indicated that a fierce debate may be expected at the Council over Dr. Bunche’s recommendation that the United Nations lifts its truce order, and the implication that the Middle East arms embargo be terminated. Should the Western powers support this aspect of Dr. Bunche’s recommendation it is expected that the Council debate will carry over for three or four sessions.
