21 Vichy Officials Get Prison Terms for Crimes Against French Jews During Nazi Regime

Twenty-one members of the Vichy Commissariat for Jewish Affairs were today sentenced to various prison terms and six others lost their civil rights following their conviction by a Seine Department court on charges of having fraudulently arrested French Jews and deported them to German death camps in Poland.

Paul Besson and Jean Monzams received 20 years at hard labor; Robert Douillet, Roland Fouhnier and Hubert Lazare, 15 years at hard labor; Andre Revel, ten years; Robert Donnauhe, eight years; Alexandre Truille, six; and Arnand Renoudot, five years. Lesser sentences were handed down against another 18 defendants while another seven were acquitted.
