Mayor of Dachau Says Bones in Death Camp Mass Grave Are Those of Napoleon’s Soldiers

The German exhumation of human bones at the Dachau site of a mass grave of 2,000 victims of the Nasis marked by a “Star of David” was today explained away by the Burgomeister of Dachau in a new fashion. The Burgomeister’s excuse was that the bones were probably those of soldiers of Napoleon’s army, since it is known that a Napoleonic military hospital existed in the area in 1806.

Meanwhile, it was disclosed by German police in Frankfurt that a monument commemorating the victims of the Nazis at a cemetery in the town of Nied was marred with Nazi slogans yesterday. Several hours before the stone monument was to have been unveiled it was discovered that the slogan “We are still living, Heil Hitler” had been painted across it.
