Rev. I. Abramsky, a member of the Rabbinical Court, this week-end voiced his personal agreement with the statement of the executive of the Union of Orthodox Rabbis of the United States and Canada, opposing the formation of a universal rabbinical body in Israel. He said he was in full accord with the reasons given for this position.

Although he cautioned that the problem had not yet been fully discussed with the Israel Chief Rabbi and his colleagues, he said the call for such an institution must come from the rabbinical authorities, who are the sole ultimate source for its formation. It is apparent, he added, that the recognized Talmudic authorities in Israel and those in countries outside of Israel are not in favor of establishing a rabbinical body of this kind.
