Lubavitcher Rebbe Forms Group to Aid Religious Education of Orphaned Children in Israel

A coordinating committee of religious bodies and lay organizations interested in the problem of religious education for youths in Israel, particularly orphaned children now in Israel transit camps or en route to the Jewish state, was formed at a conference of representatives of religious, cultural and lay groups with Rabbi Joseph I. Schneersohn, the Lubavitcher Rebbe, the office of the Lubavitcher Rebbe announced today.

An actions committee will meet within a few days, the announcement said, to set in motion a far-reaching program designed to cope with the existing situation confronting child immigration and the status of Jewish orphaned children in transit camps in Israel and elsewhere. The conference was held at the residence of Rabbi Sohneersohn.
