A resolution expressing anxiety and indignation at recent developments in Western Germany was unanimously adopted here last night by the Board of Deputies of British Jews. The resolution said the Board views with alarm the results of recent elections there in which “prominence and positions of power were gained by elements closely connected with the Nazi regime.”
Stressing that Jews in Western Germany are increasingly being subjected to outbreaks of violence and have become the target of attacks of the revived Nazi press, the resolution calls on the British Government to ensure that the powers reserved under the occupation statute for the Allied High Commissioner in Germany be exercised effectively for promulgation of a law making anti-Jewish propaganda a criminal offense. A delegation from the Board will appear before British Government authorities to plead for immediate and energetic action.
