The Arab League has instructed the Arab delegations to the United Nations to reject the U.N. Conciliation Commission’s plan for the internationalization of Jerusalem, when it is taken up here, and to attempt among themselves to draw up an alternative plan, it was learned from Arab sources here today.
The Commission resumed consultations with the four Arab states in a private session this afternoon. A spokesman for the Commission explained that the talks will include generally all outstanding problems of the Palestine peace except refugees and Jerusalem. It was indicated that a schedule of frequent consultations is being prepared.
Although Egypt has succeeded in placing the question of the demilitarization of Jerusalem on the Security Council agenda for tomorrow afternoon, it is probable that the debate will be brief and inconclusive. Procedurally, the item is hanging in mid-air and no other delegations are anxious to discuss it in the Council until after the entire Palestine issue has been thrashed out in the Political Committee.
