National Council of Jewish Women to Close Orphanage for Jewish Girls in Greece

The orphanage for Jewish girls maintained here by the National Council of Jewish Women of the U.S. will be closed as of Dec. 31, it was announced today. The institution was set up to care for Israel-bound orphaned girls, the last three of whom will depart from here shortly for the Jewish state.

The Central Board of Jewish Communities of Greece has forwarded a request to government authorities to order the removal of squatters from the Jewish cemetery in the town of Verria, in northern Greece, it was disclosed today.
