Lessing J. Rosenwald, president of the American Council for Judaism, today made public a statement charging American Zionists with issuing “hundreds of statements in favor of Jewish nationalism, involving American Jews in Israeli national problems, or identifying Judaism with Israeli Committee for “sponsoring a number of projects to stimulate pro-Israel feelings.”

Mr. Rosenwald vigorously denied that the Council had raised the issue of dual loyalty. “On the contrary,” he asserted, “the Council has insisted that Jews have only a single national attachment to the United States. We have simply pointed to statements already published in the public press by Zionists and said ‘these statements, attitudes, actions, involvements in Israel polities, economics or culture, are not representative of all Jews.”
