President Truman Designates December 10 As United Nations Human Rights Day

President Truman, at Key West, Florida, yesterday issued a proclamation designating December 10 as United Nations Human Rights Day. The President, who described the U.N. Declaration of Human Rights as a “common standard of achievement for all peoples and all nations,” said that “the attainment of basic rights for men and women everywhere is essential to the peace we are seeking.”
