The Jewish Historical Institute of Poland, at the request of the chief of the Commission for German War Crimes in Poland, today turned over a substantial amount of evidence against Erich Koch, the “hangman of Bialystok”; Martin Weiss, Nazi gauleiter at Vilno; and M. Thalmer, Gestapo official at the Belchatow camp. All three are to be extradited to Poland to stand trial.

Meanwhile, Polish authorities have decided to erect “museums of martyrdom” not only at Oswiecim and Majdanek but also at Gross-Rosen, where part of the camp buildings of the former extermination center will be preserved. Some objects of the former extermination camps at Sobidor, Belzec, Chelmno and Tremblinka will also be preserved.
