U.N. Officials Prevent Establishment of Herut Colony Near Israel-syrian Frontier

A group of settlers, members of the Herut Party, have been prevented from establishing a settlement named Bnei Zfat on land in the Mishmar Hayarden sector by United Nations truce personnel, it was learned today. The U.N. personnel claimed that establishment of such a settlement would violate the Israel-Syrian armistice agreement.

Fourteen new settlements–six individual and eight collective–were established in Israel during November, bringing the year’s total to 115, it was announced today. The total number of settlements in the country is now 577.

The first 20 families of a settlement between Petach Tikvah and Yehudis for 100 families of war veterans celebrated today the occupation of their new homes. The middle class village will be called Magshimim. The inhabitants will engage in mixed farming. There are now 30 middle class settlements will engage in mixed farming. The 28th settlement in the Negev was established last night by the Hashomer Hatzair. It is one of the most remote outposts in the Negev.
