A “farewell gift” of the Joint Distribution Committee to Poland, where it has discontinued its activities, was made here in the form of a tuberculosis sanatorium for Polish Jews, which was opened today at Otwock, a health resort, in the presence of Polish Government authorities.
Marc Bitter, representative of the Central Jewish Committee, speaking at the ceremony, said that the Jews of Poland were proud to hand over their institutions to the government, thus contributing in a small measure to the country’s general health services. Representatives of the Ministry of Health also spoke.
