Thousands of American naturalized citizens will be barred from receiving compensation for having been imprisoned by the Nazis under the final text of the compensation law as published by the German provincial governments, four American groups interested in matters of restitution and compensation charged in a cable to John J. McCloy, American High Commissioner in Germany, made public here today.

The cable pointed out that the law now bars inmates of concentration camps who emigrated from Germany before 1947 and asked the High Commissioner “to take steps to remedy this gross injustice.” It is estimated by the four organizations that the number of former victims now in American who would lose out under the present law is between 30,000 and 40,000.

The four groups are: Axis Victims League; American Association of Former European Jurists; K.Z. American Association of Former Inmates of Concentration Camps; and, United Jewish Survivors of Nazi Persecution.
