The Italian Government this week-end extended de jure recognition to Israel, an official announcement issued by the Foreign Office said.

The extension last week of de jure recognition to Israel by Belgium and Holland is deplored in Quotidiano, Catholic Organ in Rome. The newspaper argues that such recognition conflicts with the U.N. plan to place Jerusalem under international trusteeship. The paper also criticizes the modifications in the Jerusalem internationalization plan suggested by Roger Garreau, president of the United Nations Trusteeship Council, now meeting in Geneva.
