The Rumanian Government’s recall of its Minister to Tel Aviv this week-end evoked criticism of Israel’s Foreign Office by the Mapam.
The Al Hamishmar, party organ, published an article blaming the Israel Government for “deterioration of Israel-Rumanian relations.” It oriticized the Foreign Office for appointing Reuven Rubin, a painter, as Israel’s first minister to Rumania and by its failure to appoint a successor after he resigned.
The Israel Foreign Office today received an official note from the Rumanian legation here explaining that the Rumanian Minister to Tel Aviv, Nicola Cioriou, returned to Bucharest under instructions from his government, and that the legation’s councillor, M. Davidovici, has been appointed charge d’affaires.
