A plea to citizens of this city to ignore the issues of racial prejudice injected into the mayoralty primary campaign was issued over the week-end by a group of religious leaders, including a rabbi, a Catholic layman and three Protestant clergymen.

The appeal pointed up the “moral erosion that master-racism causes in the souls of those infected with it.” Rabbi Enil Leipziger, president of the New Orleans Rabbinate Council, was among the signatories of the appeal.
