The general strike in the oil refineries here which was scheduled to start today was called off this afternoon by the Haifa Labor Council following an agreement which was reached with the management on the order in which individual workers should be dismissed or retained.
President Chaim Weizmann arrived at Haifa today to participate in the opening of a three-day celebration marking the 25th anniversary of the Haifa Technion. Members of the Israel Cabinet and of the Jewish Agency will gather here tomorrow afternoon to hear an address by Dr. Weizmann on the achievements of the Technion.
