Gen. Hilldring Honored in Buenos Aires; Opposes Internationalization of Jerusalem

Major General John Hilldring, who played an important role at the United Nations as member of the U.S. delegation, in helping to secure the Palestine” Partition resolution ” which led to the establishment of the Jewish state, was honored here by the Argentine branch of the Jewish Agency. Speakers at a lunche on in his honor included Isracl Minister Yacov Tsur; Dr. Abraham Mibashan, director of the Agency’s office in Buenos Aires; Dr. Ricardo Dubrovsky, president of the DAie, and others.

Replying to the greetings, Gen. Hilldring expressed enthusiasm for Jewish achievements in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv and in the Negev, which he withessed during his visit there. He also declared that in his opinion it is not necessary to place Jerusalem under international trusteship. It would be sufficient to make provisions for mainetenance of and respect for the city’s Holy Places, he stated.
