5,000 Rumanian Jews Receiving Government Pensions As Victims of Fascist Pogroms

Some 5,000 Jews are currently receiving government pensions as victims of fascism, it was officially announced here today. The announcement added that there are still 3,000 applications from widows, orphans and crippled victims to be processed. It is expected that they will be approved soon.

The Rumanian press today reported the dismissal of a worker in an electric motor factory in Timisoara, Transylvania, for making anti-Semitic remarks in the plant. The remarks of the worker, Nicolae Seitan, were overhead by a Communist who reported it to the shop committee of the Communist Party. The committee called a meeting of the 600 workers in the plant at which it was unanimously decided to demand Seitan’s dismissal. The management acted on the demand.
