The second group of Harbin Jews to land at Hong Kong en route to Israel arrived this week. There were 120 persons in the party.
As in the case of the first party, the local authorities refused to permit relatives or friends of the immigrants to visit them. Only local representatives of the Joint Distribution Committee, the I.R.O. and the Hong Kong Jewish Women’s Association saw them. A police launch circled the vessel on which the immigrants arrived, preventing even newsmen from speaking to the Jews. They were all tran-shipped in two planes.
