The New York State Commission Against Discrimination reported yesterday that complaints of discrimination in employment during the first three months of this year showed an 18 percent rise over the same period of 1949.
Edward W. Edwards, Commission chairman, said 71 verified complaints had been filed with the Commission during the period, as against 60 in the same quarter of last year. Of these, he said, 80 percent were lodged against employers, and 16 per cent against employment agencies. One complaint was against a labor union.
