Two specific steps to intensify educational services rendered to local communities by the American Association for Jewish Education were announced today by Michael A. Stavitsky, president of the Association. They are: the formation of a Commission on Bureaus of Jewish Education, which will correlate the activities of the 39 central community educational agencies; and the reorganization of the Committee on In-service Training and Placement of Educational Personnel.
The Commission, composed of the heads of local and regional community agencies for Jewish education, will provide a medium through which these agencies may exchange experiences on a national basis, seeking answers to common problems and planning cooperative efforts in research, personnel training and elevating educational standards.
The Committee on In-service Training and Placement of Educational Personnel, organized in cooperation with the National Council of Jewish Education, the fellowship of professional Jewish educators, will attempt to stimulate in-service training of educators in supervisory and administrative positions and establish uniform standards for placement on various educational levels.
