Increased police protection at schools and other public sites of high school athletic events was promised by Police Commissioner George Boos, as a result of an outbreak of fights and beatings following high school basketball games in which a number of Jewish boys were victims.
The Police Commissioner made his pledge to Louis Rosenzweig and B.M. Joffe of the Detroit Jewish Community Council, Mrs. Eli Fried of the Better Schools Association, and William Bell of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, who met with him in an effort to end the recent post-game incidents.
