70,000 Rumanian Jews Received Permits to Go to Israel, Immigration Officer Reveals

Seventy thousand Rumanian Jews have applied for and received emigration permits for Israel this year, it was announced here last night at a press conference by David Giladi, immigration officer for Israel in Bucharest, who has just returned here from the Rumanian capital.

Meanwhile, a contingent of 1,070 Jewish immigrants from Rumanian landed in Haifa yesterday aboard the Rumanian liner Transylvania. According to Hador, afternoon Tel Aviv newspaper, 6,000 Jewish immigrants will henceforth arrive in Israel monthly from Rumania, principally aboard the Rumanian liner, Transylvania.
