Brandeis University received a total of $1,334,259 in contributions, grants and other funds during its second academic year, Dr. Abram L. Sachar, president, revealed in his annual report at the second annual convocation exercises of the non-sectarian, Jewish-sponsored University. The sum represented an increase of $115,000 over the University’s income in its first academic year.
Georgs L. Alpert, president of the University’s board of trustees, was presented with a gold medal and folio as tribute to his “distinguished service to the advancement of learning.” Mrs. Eleanor Roosevelt, who delivered the principal address, said that vast spiritual strength was needed to solve today’s world problems.
