Up to February 1950, Canada has taken 80,642 displaced persons, standing fifth in term of numbers, according to Hector Allard, resident representative of the International Refugee Organization in Canada, who addressed the 30th annual meeting of the Jewish Immigrant Aid Society, (HIAS).
Jerry Segall, reelected president of the Society, called on Canadians to continue cooperation with the immigrants and helping their integration into Canada’s social pattern. Canada, as a nation of immigrants, had been kind to newcomers, he declared.
