To maintain the armistice situation and win the peace Israel’s armed forces must remain strong, Israel Army Chief of Staff Yigal Yadin declared yesterday during an address at special Army exercises “somewhere in Israel.”

Brigadier Yadin recalled Premier David Ben Gurion’s statement that security can be won by increasing the Army’s efficiency. He spoke after reviewing a parade of a famous armored brigade which had participated in the Latrun battle and which captured Nazareth.

At an “Aviation Day” celebration at the airfield here Israel’s First Lady, Mrs. Vera Weizmann, dedicated six new Piper Cubs which will be used to train Israel youths. The planes were purchased in the United States with funds raised in Israel by the General Council for Jewish Aviation.
