A spokesman for the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals said today that his organization would discuss with the Jordanian legation in Washington a complaint received here from Jerusalem that a lion, a leopard and two eagles in the Biblical Zoo on Mt. Scopus — which is in Arab-held territory — are starving for lack of meat.

The complaint, forwarded by Aaron Shulov, director of the Biblical Zoo, and Theodore Meysels, chairman of the Jerusalem S.P.C.A., said that for three weeks the Jordan Arab Legion has prevented the passage of meat destined for the zoo. The Biblical Zoo is said to contain a collection of all animals mentioned in the Bible.
