Israel, along with 18 other countries, took part in the “International Earth Ceremony” held here. The noted cellist, Gregor Piatigorsky, represented Israel. As a gesture of world peace, soil from the 19 participating countries was blended with American soil. A tree will later be planted in the blended soil.
