A survey of the 70,000-odd Jewish families in Argentina reveals that while the heads of 7,374 families are farmers, 9,775 family heads earn their living as small traders. The study was conducted by Yedidio Efron, Zionist leader and Jewish educator and was published today in the Yiddishe Zeitung, leading South American Jewish newspaper.
A report issued by the Argentine Jewish Institute of Culture and Information, which is headed by Simon Mirelman, reveals that in the two years since it was organized the Institute has published 22 pamphlets on Jewish subjects and on anti-Semitism. In addition the Institute disseminates information on Israel, sponsors a radio program about Jews and Jewish culture and is collecting a library of 5,000 volumes on Argentine history, geography and economy to be contributed to the Israel National Library in Jerusalem.
The Archive of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency includes articles published from 1923 to 2008. Archive stories reflect the journalistic standards and practices of the time they were published.
