The members of the United Nations Conciliation Commission for Palestine today returned here by car from Beirut, following conferences there and in Damascus with Arab leaders on “all aspects of the Palestine problem.” They are expected to remain in Jerusalem for about ten days before leaving again, probably for Geneva.
Members of the United Nations Works Relief Mission, headed by Gen. Kennedy, today arrived at the Lydda airfield. The mission, which is studying the problem of providing work relief for Palestine Arab refugees, conferred with Foreign Ministry officials and is expected to meet with Foreign Minister Moshe Sharett soon.
Gen. William Riley, U.N. Chief of Staff, this week-end presided over a meeting of the Israel-Lebanese mixed armistice commission at which general border problems were discussed, including the plane incident of July 24, when a Lebanese aircraft was fired upon by an Israel fighter after it penetrated Israel territory. Proposals concerning the incident were formulated for submission to the governments concerned.
