President Truman this week-end called for early Senate ratification of the United Nations convention outlawing genocide.
In a letter to Senator Tom Connally, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, which is considering the pact, the President wrote: “In ratifying the genocide convention, we will let the world know that the United States does not condone mass atrocities any more now than in the past, and we will endorse the principle that such conduct is criminal under international law.”
