The current American Jewish scone and the need for an effective program for Jewish youth will be discussed at the annual assembly of the National Jewish Youth Conference which opens tomorrow at Camp Wel-Met, near here, attended by about 200 delegates representing national Jewish youth organizations throughout the country. The Conference, which is sponsored by the National Jewish Welfare Board, will be in session until September 8.

Designed to develop leadership and a more active participation in Jewish community life, the assembly will hear a number of addresses on the present and future role of Judaism as a creative force in American life. The delegates will examine a number of approaches to creative Jewish living which will be proposed to them by leaders of the National Jewish Welfare Board and of other organizations.

The National Jewish Youth Conference represents 300 Jewish youth and young adult councils and most national Jewish youth organizations. It was created in September of 1948 to provide a self-governing representative body of organized Jewish youth which can develop a service for meeting the needs of American Jewish young people.
